Nature Based Counseling

Charlie Mack Photography

Have you ever felt like your life is moving at a ridiculously fast pace, and it is hard to catch your breath? You wake up in the morning, and your mind is already seven steps ahead. The anxiety of all the decisions you will have to make is already overwhelming, so what is the purpose of it all? You think, maybe just stay in bed today and avoid it.

You have worked hard, you are a good person, and yet life doesn’t seem to be working out as you hoped. You are dealing with one major challenge after another, and you just want a break.

Where is your vacation, your promotion, or feeling happy with your life?

This feeling that you cannot get things right, no matter what you do it is not enough.

You still start your day with this sinking feeling and have to fight yourself to push past it. How can you find the peace and balance in your life again? I have tried talk therapy with counsellors, I have tried spent hours doing the inner work, but I don’t feel the change in my body, you still feel alone, dreading the day and lack of purpose.

This is where building that therapeutic alliance with me as your counsellor and nature as a co-therapist,

creating a space where you are connected, hopeful and living intentionally.

You don’t need more talking; it is about dropping this baggage.

What you have been doing has been too complicated, going out into nature, using your senses, allows you to be present and simply your life.

Offering a moment of peace, your toes in the sand, feet in the water and chin too the sky. This metaphor could also be a forest, a mountain top, or a country field, where ever you feel comfortable connecting with nature.

you simply co-exist in harmony.

You are fully accepted and a part of this, beautiful ecosystem that surrounds you and is available to you whenever you need.

As your counsellor my job is to create a sense safety and build trust through holding that space to be witnessed in a compassionate, non-judgmental way.

This can set the stage by offering mindfulness practices and ways to relax your physical body. We can see nature and it’s patterns as a metaphor, we can foster a deeper understanding of ourselves and how we relate within this natural world
